Maharaja bhog, synonymous with Best Veg Unlimited Thali in Mumbai and abroad is known to serve the best of Gujarati and Rajasthani dishes alike. Their Unlimited veg thali has different variety of options each day to explore the taste of both states. Maharaja Bhog is my personal favourite when it comes to Thali places and recently we tried their family thali. A huge Bohri kind of Thaal that can accommodate good 5-6 people. It evokes the sense of belonging and unity amoung the people dining together and bring them closure.
Maharaja Bhog have multiple outlets in Mumbai, Dubai and USA. I visited their Lower Parel Branch, located right at the entrance of the Todi mill at about 1 kms away from the Lower Parel Station.
The place boasts of royal treatment packed with traditional yet beautiful décor where each corner speaks of royalty and is grandeur. The upholstery is all white with a hint of brown, making it premium and Beautiful. The place is spacious, yet full even on a weekday, which is a proof of the taste and hospitality here. Ashish Maheshwari, the Founder-Managing Director has worked relentlessly for this.
“Atithi Devo Bhava” is the thought that is reflected at Maharaja Bhog. They greet their customers with a Namaskar followed by Gau Daan, one of the many ancient rituals of our ancestors that are found in our Indian philosophy. The Sanskrit word ‘Go’ has various meanings, some of them are: ‘source of food’, ‘symbol of life’ and ‘senses’. The term ‘daan’ means ‘gift’. The restaurant lets you do some Gau Daan, followed by eating some Tulsi leaves.
Maharaja Bhog is all about being rooted with our traditions. They encourage eating with fingers and instead of a finger bowl you’re served with ‘Chilamchi Lota’ (Jug and a basin) to cleanse your hand at the start and end of the meal.
The thali consist of 30 delicious items some of which are listed below:
Gajjar Kheer and Udad dal halwa in sweet
Sandwich Tikki, Khandvi and Rasam Kachori in Farsan
Aloo Khanda Jeera
Fulka, Rotla and Veg Paratha
Veg Pulav and Khichdi
They serve an unlimited thali, where the management is really kind and will serve you with love. This will make you eat more for sure. The staff is very warm, kind and smiling, who makes your visit even more special, so take your family and friends for that pending treat or dinner and enjoy the family thali to make your bond even more stronger.
Each day the menu is different, with dishes changing so relish different flavours on each visit and let Maharaja Bhog pleasantly awake your taste buds.
