The feeling of belonging, togetherness, happy times are rare and short-lived, and there are only a handful of places that still gives you that. Chaubara601, a spacious rooftop place, best known for its picturesque site, a place where you’ll at least click a dozen of pictures, located in Thane just about 1.2 kms away from the station makes it quite easily accessible.
Chaubara, has many connotations like a place that has 4 doors or aangan, a place where people would chill in the evening. Chaubara gives you almost all these, a place to chill, relax, eat and repeat.
The place welcomes you with a tempo, well-lit with various light shades, the restaurant is located on the rooftop, once you enter there is a muneem (accountant) ji at the entrance with a fully decorative cycle, a corner best known as Selfie corner.
Further ahead is the waiting room, which was almost packed on Saturday night, it has some quirky, vibrant, recycled décor, with decorations done from old cycle, old park benches, old door used as tables, the base of the swing machine fitted as the pillar of the table, old steel tiffins turned into hanging lamps and many more. Visit Chaubara to explore the same.
After settling, we were given welcome drink, a mixture of Daniya Jeera with a hint of lemon, it was quite refreshing. Along with Suran Chat, the chips are spicy and chatpata.
Red Guava Pomegranate: The mocktail has a base of pomegranate juice, topped with guava juice, and garnished with mint and pomegranate fruit. It’s sweet, spicy and refreshing.
Masahari Platter: Mahi Shami which is Basa fish marinated in Indian spices and cooked in tandoor. Jhinga Tandoori: Tiger Prawns are tandoor cooked, and done perfectly with each bite there is a burst of flavors. Kakori Kebab, perfectly minced mutton is cooked in Indian spices. The platter was over-all flavorful and delicious.
For main course we tried, Murgh Korma and Mahi Tikka Masala, both the dishes were boneless, not sweet, medium thick gravy and goes well with their Roti platter, which consist of Lal Mircha Kulchiyan, Laccha de Parantha, Lacche de Naan and Pyaz Kulchiyan, each of the roti’s are soft, hot and perfectly made.
For dessert, we tried, Rabdi, it was loaded with sliced dry fruits and was delicious, though it lacked dense texture, yet a must try, Sheer Biranj, like a Karanjee but stuffed with Rabdi, which when sliced oozes the Rabdi out, totally on point, again a must try, Sunehre Papite ka Halwa: The halwa is of shredded Papaya, different and unique.
Every weekend they have live music by Tamal Pandey, the upcoming music sensation, who sings and plays best of the bollywood songs while playing the guitar.
Overall, Chaubara601, is a beautiful place to visit with your friends or family, without feeling a pinch. This Value for money place does light up your mood and taste buds.
